icon09/23/2016 - Regional Future Star earns spot at Nationals

On September 23, 2106, Joshua Caperton competed at the Regional Future Stars Championships in Oklahoma City. At the Sooners gymnastics complex, Joshua competed with some of the region's top athletes for a chance to compete at the National Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Joshua did not disappoint.

Competing as a 9 year old in the 10 year old division, Joshua punched his ticket to Colorado by hitting all 9 events. This year was the fewest number of registered athletes since the program began, largely based on the age change to the Men's Program. Because of this change, Joshua was required to compete an entire year earlier than expected, making this trip truly special.

National Championships will be held on November 11th in Colorado Springs.

Congratulations to Joshua and to Coach Stephen. We are so proud of you. Go Eagle!

On the weekend of December 9, 2016, the boy's team traveled far and wide to WOGA Gymnastics in Frisco. The competition is a great warmup for the season, as many of the boys are trying out new skills and levels for the new season. The level 4 boys set the tone for the season with some great showings from the boys. Ben Lippert took home 5th on floor and 4th in all around, as teammate Graham Hall and Jake Wenham were not far behind. Elliot Frasier was also making his Eagle debut, walking away with a 4th place finish on high bar. The Level 5s also had a good showing with Matthew Beauregard placing 4th on parallel bars, Nathan Wang and Halen Watterson also rocked their routines, along with the Mumbru twins.

The Level 6 boys also had their season debut. While it wasn't their best showing, it showed the coach a lot of confidence going into the season. Owen Cendona blew the competiton away, taking 1st place in the AA. Cortland Witkoff took 2nd on vault, and teammates Gavin Bullard rocked parallel bars, taking 2nd place as well. Cameron Huber had a strong meet too, taking 7th on high bar. Brecken Fox also had a great meet, putting together some routines for the first time by himself. Very proud of all the level 6 boys!

Eagle's Level 7 boys also competed against some really tough competition. With the new age changes, a majority of the boys were repeating Level 7. All of the Eagle boys were first year level 7, making the competition even more fierce. Joshua Caperton had a good AA meet, taking 5th place with a couple of falls. Kaeden Nelson and Luke Robnett also competed well, as did Landen Nelson and Elias Anderson. The 3 older boys in the level didn't have the strongest meet, but made some great progressions for the early season. Way to go boys!
