icon05/10/2018 - Junior Olympic Men's Nationals in Oklahoma

It was an exciting time for Carter Kim and his coaches who traveled to Oklahoma for the JO National Championships on May 9-13, 2018.

The team started out the week with podium training bright and early Wednesday morning. After a productive training it was time to relax and take in some of the sites of Oklahoma City. They later on met up at the competition site for Opening Ceremonies where awards were being passed out to specific individuals being recognized and presented by Olympian John Orozco.

Thursday would be day 2 of the training and it was not as productive as the first day. Carter had unfortunately developed a pain on his side that was very painful. The trainer at the training facility suggested that they go immediately to the near by Care Now to get the doctor's to look at it. He ended up having a small procedure and although it was better, there was still a lot of pain that Carter was dealing with.

Friday cam along and he was scheduled for the first session of the morning. He was still very sore from his procedure the night before. He was so brave and fought through the pain and managed to finish his 6 events and as a bonus, he earned a 13th place on vault. He was a super trooper through this whole weekend, his coaches were very impressed.
